It was easy to see that the Scottish city was hosting a huge sporting event when I landed.

The reality of the mixed zone
The mixed zone is the area where the media interview athletes after a race or a match. I took this photo as Kath Grainger interviewed Alistair Brownlee while his younger brother Jonny was getting covered with ice packs at his feet.

Ready for action
I had the company of world champion Non Stanford and our commentator Annie Emmerson for the BBC's Glasgow 2014 triathlon coverage. Also in the band was Keith on camera duty and Les on sound.

As well as covering the triathlon at Glasgow 2014, I also joined the Radio 4 Today team. Judoka Ashley McKenzie joined me on the show the morning after he won gold.

Radio 5 Live
It was my birthday on the first Saturday of the Games - I spent this first half hour of it chatting about triathlon and tattoos with Steve Parry and Colin Paterson on BBC Radio 5 Live's 'Commonwealth Nights'. We were meant to be broadcasting from a bar, but it was too loud so the show was moved to a nearby car park!

The former triathlete now commentates on the BBC's triathlon races. She also has very enviable hair!

This was taken just after the Glasgow 2014 mixed relay triathlon - which the English team won. Jonny was the only member of the team who ran back in the rain to pose for a photo!

Post-race rain
The first couple of days of Glasgow 2014 were full of sunshine but the heavens opened as soon as England crossed the line in the mixed team relay on day three. I sheltered in the commentary box.

Wetsuits
We're used to seeing wetsuits on the triathlon circuit - just not ones like these modelled by the medal ladies during the soggy ceremony

Commonwelfie
I don't take many selfies as my arms are annoyingly short but how could I not try to fit in as many triathlon medal winners as possible on mixed team relay day? Eight isn't bad is it?

Erraid Davies
13 year old Erraid from Shetland became the youngest ever competitor at the Commonwealth Games to win a medal when she took bronze in the SB9 100m breaststroke.
